Tokyo –1 October 2009 – Barclays Bank PLC Tokyo Branch is pleased to announce the appointment of Masafumi Yamamoto as Chief Foreign Exchange Strategist, Japan. Based in Tokyo, Mr. Yamamoto will be responsible for formulating the Bank's view on the Japanese yen and supporting the firm's Asian FX franchise. Mr. Yamamoto will be an integral part of the Global FX Strategy team and will report globally to David Woo, Head of Global FX Strategy and regionally to Jon Scoffin, Head of Research, Asia Pacific.

Mr. Yamamoto joins from RBS, where he held a similar position as Chief FX Strategist for Japan. Between 1995 and 2005 he was at the Bank of Japan, where, based in the Central bank's representative office in Frankfurt he analysed Euro area economies, and in Tokyo was a Foreign Exchange Analyst and Dealer in the Financial Markets Department.

【2009年10月1日、東京】 バークレイズ銀行東京支店は、山本雅文 （やまもと・まさふみ）を、本日付でチーフ為替 ストラテジストに起用しました。山本は、東京を拠点に円相場を中心に主要通貨の分析、ストラテジー策定および　　予測に従事し、これによりバークレイズ銀行は、アジア全域の外国為替調査や投資戦略に関するサービスを強化　　することになります。山本は、グローバルには外国為替ストラテジー部門グローバル統括責任者であるデイヴィッド・ウーおよびアジア・パシフィック地域調査部統括責任者であるジョン・スコフィンの直属となります。

山本は、直近まではRBS東京支店にてヘッド・オブ・FXストラテジーとして従事。G11諸国と一部のエマージング市場の通貨に対する日本円の方向性を予測する外国為替リサーチ及び戦略レポートの発行を担当していました。それ以前は、1995年4月日本銀行に入行。調査統計局にて日銀短観作成、国際局にて外為ディーラーとして市場モニタリングや為替介入、金融市場局にて外為市場分析、またフランクフルト事務所にて欧州経済・金融調査に携わりました。2005年11月から民間へ転出。日興シティグループ証券にて通貨エコノミストを務めておりました。
